You may be aware that we’re going to be a part of Deep Heaven Now 4, and we’re curious who you’re looking forward to catching this weekend. There are some obvious choices, like December Sound and Endless Wave and Major Stars and The Vandelles and Static of the Gods, but you’ve also got some stellar and potentially less obvious choices like The New Highway Hymnal and Sand Reckoner and our very own SUNRAM. You know what? Nevermind. Just see all the bands on both days and that’ll be that.
Great news! We are making our sold-out, tour-only tape available again! It contains all new songs and jams! The first batch quickly sold out on tour, so we have created another short run of purple tapes available for sale on Bandcamp and as a free download. Go check it out!
In addition, it’s been a year since the release of our debut record, The Only Light On, and what a year it’s been! What better time than now to announce that we are going back into the studio to start work on Record #2!
Over the last year, we’ve played with a ton of great bands, gone on tour, met amazing people and been continuously inspired and energized by the whole experience. We are excited about the new batch of songs and can’t wait to share them with you.
We appreciate all the love and support we’ve gotten from you guys. Thank you! Now go grab yourselves some new tunes!
Karaoke is actually pretty much a blast, but it’s so much better when you’re singing songs you love. Personally, I can only stomach so much out of key GaGa and Journey before I’m ready to throw the mic into the teleprompter, or, since I’m actually a pretty mild mannered man, simply leave the bar.
These folks from Austin, TX do it right, though. Even the Village Voice thinks so. They’ve got all the punk and indie songs kids like us grew up on. Channel your inner Henry Rollins without getting in a fight before, during or after. Show everyone you can sing as well as Stephen Malkmus without the benefit of a voice coach. Pretend your Mac and dedicate a song to your own personal Laura even though none of those songs were really about her. And, thanks to Narragansett Beer, you can even drink till you can’t remember the words, just like the real Paul Westerberg.
So, come on out to Karaoke Underground on May 12th at TT the Bears.
Party starts at 8:00 PM, we play at 9:30. We get our sing-a-long on around 10:45.
Last Night: Ghost Box Orchestra and The New Highway Hymnal from Andrew on Vimeo.

December is nearly here and who better to spend time with as the holidays roll in than with friends of yours? We’ll be at The Elevens in Northampton with Friends of Yours on the 4th and at the Rosebud Bar in Somerville with Friends of Yours on the 9th.
UPDATE: The show on Decmeber 4th in Northampton also features TRUCKS and MERCHANT BANKERS, along with us and Friends of Yours. The December 9th show is new and improved, now with more GONDOLIERS!
If you can’t wait that long go get yourself a special glimpse into Ghost Box Orchestra’s creative process (and occasionally colossal time wasting techniques) by visiting our soundcloud page for never before heard jam session brainstorms.

We are stoked to have been invited to rock the Deep Heaven Now Two ambient/shoegaze/psych fest!
In case you don’t already know, this is a two day event spread over two clubs in Somerville, Massachusetts, featuring 25 or so bands doing their things. It’s sponsored by Flyweight, one of the best shows on wzbc, one of the best radio stations in our neck of the woods.
In case you’re thinking to yourself “Wow! 25 bands! 2 nights! That’s so overwhelming. I don’t even know where to begin…” well, you should begin by getting yourself a compact disc featuring songs by the bands who will be performing.
You can hear us play some songs live on the radio this Tuesday, October 19. Specifically, you can hear us play some songs live on WMBR’s Pipeline! on 88.1FM or through the magic of the internet at wmbr.org.
Also, here is the Facebook event page for our upcoming gig with Black Fortress of Opium on October 21st at Gulu Gulu Cafe in Salem.
A head’s up regarding Deep Heaven Now II, the sequel to the sequel. It’s happening two nights in a row in two clubs in Somerville in November. Lots of awesome in the form of tons of bands. More info.
And finally, a photograph of Marty sliding down a tube.
We are going to be opening for some sweet acts. The Morning After Girls, and The Lovetones, and The December Sound all at T.T. the Bear’s Place. We are on first.

Big thanks to our new friend, and wondrous photog, Tom Gilmore [link pending], who seems to be somehow at every rock show in town answering that ages old question, “Just what does it look like to play rock and roll?” Check out the rest of Tom’s stellar work at foundwaves.com, where a passion for live music plus a handful of talented folks behind the lens equals a really cool thing. Keep it up, guys!
